To the question “Why do we need financial literacy for children?” one could answer with a monosyllabic answer: “Children grow up.” And for an adult, financial illiteracy is at best unprofitable, at worst dangerous. Children need knowledge in this area so that in ten or fifteen years they will confidently enter adulthood and engage in the conscious creation of their own future, and not helplessly depend on their parents. But what’s the advantages?
- Teaching financial literacy involves, among other things, the ability to plan resources. This skill will be useful in other areas of the child’s life, it will help form a conscious personality, teach you to see perspectives and strive for balance in all areas.
- Finance is a responsibility. The child will learn to make decisions, act effectively and accept the consequences of their decisions.
- The child will become more disciplined, more reasonable, form a balanced attitude to their own labor costs, and learn to formulate goals more clearly.
- He will learn about ways to plan and increase money, in particular, about investment tools, and in the future he will be able to try out different ways to increase his income, including by acquiring assets. He will have more prospects of becoming successful than most of today’s adults who were forced to develop or break their attitude to finance in adulthood.
- The child will start planning his own future early and will make a more informed choice of profession than his peers who did not have financial literacy lessons.
But in order to avoid a bias in values, the child must be reminded and demonstrated that the most important things are not related to money: life, love, inner harmony, the joy of doing what you love, the opportunity to admire the beauty of nature and be close to loved ones.
